Violet Residences - The Area

Calis Beach : Calis beach is the main beach area for the bustling lively town of Fethiye. It stretches for over 4Kms with a promenade flanked by the beach on one side and numerous Hotels, restaurants and cafe bars on the other.

Most of the resort nightlife centres around the promenade with restaurants and bars to cater for all tastes from traditional Turkish to Chinese and English.

Fethiye: You can reach Fethiye by water taxi (Dolmus boat) which runs every 30 minutes from the canal at the metal bridge and entails a beautiful trip across the bay for around £1. By road you can catch a Dolmus (minibus) just outside the apartment complex.

Don't be afraid to try the Dolmus - it's the best way to get around they run every few minutes and really let you see the Turkish way of life.

Olu Deniz Lagoon: No visit to Fethiye is complete without a visit to the beautiful Lagoon. This conservation area is a must see.

Beautiful shallow waters provide the perfect place for sun worshippers to laze the day away or if you fancy something more energetic snorkelling, pedalos, canoeing etc they're all at hand too.

There are a number of cafe's and bars inside the lagoon or you could do as the Turkish do and have a picnic under the trees.

Saklikent: High in the mountains above Fethiye, rushing torrents of icy waters cut a narrow gorge through the mountains over thousands of years, creating Saklikent Gorge the 2nd largest in Europe.

A natural wonder, the resulting canyon is 300m deep and 18Km long and offers visitors one of the most breathtaking excursions in all of Turkey. Discovered in 1988 by a shepherd called Mehmet

The walls are so high that they cut out most of the sunlight and the fresh spring waters that flow through are freezing cold! A cool refuge on hot summer days.

Saklikent Gorge is a favourite eating place where the rustic restaurants overhang the river serve delicious fresh trout and other local delicacies.

The Mud Baths: "Beauty Mud" which not only cleanses and tones the skin but is said to remedy rheumatism and have anti-ageing properties. After allowing the mud to dry, it can be removed in a natural clear water sulphur pool. At temperatures of around 40°C this leaves you feeling totally refreshed, relaxed with skin as smooth as silk.
